How Accel's US, London and India early-stage teams invest, what its 2026 funds look like, and how to find the right investor.

**TL;DR:** Accel leads pre-seed, seed and Series A rounds from three early-stage teams: the US (Accel 17, $800M), Europe and Israel (Accel London 9, $800M) and India (Accel India 9, $550M), all raised in August 2026, with a $1.35B fund for larger early rounds. Its 2026 seed leads ran $15M to $26M per round. There is no pitch form: use the team page to find the investor tagged with your sector and Early Stage, and get an introduction.

[Compare all 27 firms side by side](https://www.pitchprotocol.vc/blog/how-to-pitch-top-vc-firms/)

Accel has backed Facebook, Spotify, Dropbox, Slack, Atlassian, CrowdStrike and more than 800 companies worldwide, and more recently Anthropic, Cursor, Lovable and Perplexity. It is one of the few genuinely global top-tier firms, with teams in Silicon Valley, London and Bangalore.

In Accel's own words, early founders need investors "who can move at their pace, act with conviction rooted in deep insight." Its founders built the firm on a "prepared mind" philosophy, from Pasteur's line that chance favors the prepared mind: research themes early, so the firm recognizes the right founder when they appear.

## What Accel Is

Accel raised $3.5 billion for early-stage investing in August 2026, across four funds:

- **Accel 17** ($800M): the US early-stage fund, leading pre-seed, seed and Series A rounds
- **Accel London 9** ($800M): early stage across Europe and Israel
- **Accel India 9** ($550M): early stage in India, plus the Accel Atoms pre-seed program; a $1.35 billion global fund backs larger early rounds and fast follow-ons

Late-stage investing runs separately, through the Leaders funds ($5 billion raised in April 2026). For a first round the early teams are the target, and the team page tags every investor with focus areas and an Early or Late Stage specialty, so you can find the right person before you reach out.

## What Accel Looks For

**1. Category-defining companies.** Accel's own deal posts describe its picks as category-defining. Show why you could become the dominant company in an emerging category, not the third player in an established one.

**2. Enterprise depth, consumer too.** Accel's best-known investments skew B2B (Atlassian, Slack, Qualtrics, Tenable), but several of its US early-stage investors list consumer as a focus, and in December 2025 it led the seed of Hera, a consumer elder-care company.

**3. Get on the radar early.** Because the prepared-mind approach starts from themes, being known to the investor who covers your space before you raise helps. Accel's posts about its seed investments are a good map of the themes it is working on.

**4. Global reach.** With teams in the US, London and Bangalore, Accel can follow a company across markets. It publishes no rule against US-focused companies.

**5. The team you have.** Accel publishes no team-composition rule, and in 2026 it led seeds for single-founder companies Sapiom and Paper. Show why your team can win; do not pad it for the pitch.

## What the Numbers Look Like

- **No published thresholds:** Accel publishes no ARR or NRR bar. It led depthfirst's $40 million Series A three months after the product launched
- **Round sizes:** seed rounds it led in 2026 ran $15 million to $26 million in total, Series A rounds $15 million to $40 million
- **India pre-seed:** Accel Atoms invests up to $1 million to $2 million in Indian and Indian-origin founders

## How to Get an Accel Meeting

Accel has no pitch form or pitch email; its contact page lists only offices and phone numbers. The practical paths:

- **Portfolio company founders** — Atlassian, Slack, Dropbox, CrowdStrike alumni
- **Co-investor referrals**: firms that co-invested with Accel in 2025 and 2026 include ICONIQ (Paper), Y Combinator (Tolmo, Agave), Conviction (Keenable) and BoxGroup (depthfirst)
- **The investor who covers your theme**: Accel publishes posts on its seed investments; if you are building in a theme it has written about, reach that investor directly
- **Accel Atoms**: Indian and Indian-origin pre-seed founders can apply directly, on a rolling basis

## What Gets You Passed

- **Pitching the late-stage team for a first round.** Early rounds belong with the Early Stage investors on the team page.
- **No defensibility story.** Accel has been in enterprise long enough to know that execution-only moats erode. They want a structural advantage.
